I entered this painting in the recent Belleville Art Association’s juried show but I was a little worried as to how my new style would be received. But I  was pleasantly surprised that, not only was it accepted, but the jurors also gave it the Most Skillful Use of Colour Award.

This past summer our granddaughters stayed with us for a couple of weeks and they were so smitten with the hammock that we had bought many years ago in Germany but had never really used. Fighting for time in the hammock was a daily pasttime.

These two paintings were accepted at the Belleville Art Association’s annual juried show at the Belleville Library.

The theme this year was ” Mindscape “. The painting on the right, inspired by the beautiful sunsets as seen from our waterfront home in Prince

Edward County, and our love for the Italian apperatif  Campari,received an award for Best Use of Light.

On the Labour Day Weekend, September 4th to the 6th, I opened my doors to the third Rednersville Road Art Tour. My guest artist

was Melissa Schatzmann, a very talented realistic artist. Despite the unsettled weather, especially on Saturday, when it was so

windy and everyone had a ” bad hair day “, we had a great turnout. We averaged about 100 visitors each day and they were in much

more of a buying mood than last year. But it’s not only about selling, we , as artist need feedback from the public and certainly

Last week I had a full-page spread in the local paper, The Intelligencer. A lady phoned me right away asking me questions about this painting. I didn’t hear from her again , but a couple of days later, someone e-mailed me about the same painting.It turned out that the man with the bicycle on the beach in Pres’quile Park in Brighton, is the father of the young man that contacted me and the first caller was his mother. I had taken a photo off him ( without his knowledge ) a couple of years ago and always wanted to paint him. The young man bought the painting and I even gave him the original photo I had taken. What a coincidence !

This was my fourth year that I represented the Belleville Art Association on Canada Day at Zwick’s Park.

There were 8 artists that participated – some sketched and drew an audience at times. It was a fun day

This is the piece that was accepted in the prestigeous Art in the County juried show this week.

I was quite pleased to have made it , as 110 artists from Prince Edward County submitted their work.

The show will run until July 4th at the old firestation in Picton.
