A Unique Artist Experience

admin | July 15th, 2010 | No Comments »

Last week I had a full-page spread in the local paper, The Intelligencer. A lady phoned me right away asking me questions about this painting. I didn’t hear from her again , but a couple of days later, someone e-mailed me about the same painting. It turned out that the man with the bicycle on the beach in Pres’quile Park in Brighton, is the father of the young man that contacted me and the first caller was his mother. I had taken a photo off him ( without his knowledge ) a couple of years ago and always wanted to paint him. The young man bought the painting and I even gave him the original photo I had taken. What a coincidence !

This was my fourth year that I represented the Belleville Art Association on Canada Day at Zwick’s Park.

There were 8 artists that participated – some sketched and drew an audience at times. It was a fun day

and everyone enjoyed themselves. To get an enlarged view , click on the image.

Painting Sold

Not only was I pleased that my painting was accepted in the juried show, but within three days it was sold. This is always a bittersweet experience I think for most artists, because you become very attached to your work and as flattered as you are to hear that someone bought it, you hate to see it go.

This is the piece that was accepted in the prestigeous Art in the County juried show this week.

I was quite pleased to have made it , as 110 artists from Prince Edward County submitted their work.

The show will run until July 4th at the old firestation in Picton.
