2018-10-31T17:35:06-04:00

Last year I joined the Brighton Arts Council which has a relatively large membership, not only of visual artists but musicians , writers, etc. This past summer they opened their seasonal gallery, The Gates, close to the entrance of Pres'quile Park in Brighton. For the month of February, the BAC is exhibiting for the first

Danielle’s Portrait

2018-10-31T17:34:10-04:00

This was my third assignment in Jesus's oil painting class. The  portrait is of my daughter, Danielle. I really enjoyed doing it since it's been a really rough year for her and the whole family although it doesn't show on her beautiful face.

My Second Oil Painting

2018-10-31T17:27:56-04:00

This is the second oil painting that I did in Jesus Estevez's class. I never thought that I would enjoy doing a Still Life but I did. I have always complained about the difficulty I was having in satisfactorily blending when I use acrylics. Oils allow me to do so as you can see

My First Oil Painting

2018-10-31T17:26:52-04:00

A few weeks ago I started an oil painting class with Jesus Estevez and this little piece was the result of my first efforts. I have done quite a bit of acrylic   painting   but have always been disappointed when it comes to the   blending . I can already see the advantage of using

Newspaper Exposure

2018-10-31T17:28:48-04:00

Living in a small community certainly has its benefits for us, artists. We have the opportunity to hang our artwork in various venues around town such as the hospital, restaurants, doctors' offices even the mayor's office. I have also been lucky to get my name, face and artwork into various newspapers around the Quinte area

Lion’s Art Show and Sale in Brighton

2018-10-31T17:40:20-04:00

I have been neglecting my blog page , which may seem like not much is happening as far as my art is concerned. I have to admit that I haven't been doing as much as I would have liked due to a health crisis in the family. But I hope to have more time again

2011 BAA Juried show

2018-10-31T17:52:44-04:00

I entered this painting in the recent Belleville Art Association's juried show but I was a little worried as to how my new style would be received. But I  was pleasantly surprised that, not only was it accepted, but the jurors also gave it the Most Skillful Use of Colour Award.

Summer 2011 – The Hammock

2018-10-31T17:56:11-04:00

This past summer our granddaughters stayed with us for a couple of weeks and they were so smitten with the hammock that we had bought many years ago in Germany but had never really used. Fighting for time in the hammock was a daily pasttime.

The 2010 Rednersville Road Art Tour

2018-10-31T17:57:44-04:00

On the Labour Day Weekend, September 4th to the 6th, I opened my doors to the third Rednersville Road Art Tour. My guest artist was Melissa Schatzmann, a very talented realistic artist. Despite the unsettled weather, especially on Saturday, when it was so windy and everyone had a " bad hair day ", we had
